Pad printing

the most economic printing of advertising gadgets

Pad printing

The pad printing method involves applying ink to the material to be marked using a silicon stamp called a pad. Pad printing is very similar to popular stamps, except that here the ink is taken by a pad from a previously etched steel plate, then the pad strikes the marked item leaving a permanent print.

Pad printing FISKARS

Pad printing gives great possibilities of printing especially on objects with irregular shapes such as: pens, pencils, convex or concave planes on advertising gadgets. A very important factor in pad printing is the proper selection of paint for the marked object, thanks to which the print becomes practically indelible.
With this method we can mark all kinds of plastics, metals, paper, cardboard, wood, etc., the possibilities are practically endless.

Due to the simplicity of the pad printing technique, it is possible to mark a large number of advertising articles in a short time, which significantly reduces the time of order completion. Pad prints are characterised by very high resolution, even small inscriptions (font height approx. 3mm) remain legible.

The greatest feature distinguishing pad printing from other techniques is the possibility of branding on any shape of object and surface - whether concave, convex, curved, uneven, and porous or remarkably smooth.

Pad printing can be used on virtually any material. Plastic, metal, glass, ceramics, textiles or even food can all be branded using this versatile method. Pad printing was created and designed to print on small curved surfaces such as pens, or other items with unusual shapes that could not otherwise be marked. It is a printing method that has one limitation, namely that the print size cannot be large.

Pad printing also has a better print resolution than screen printing or thermal transfer, especially on surfaces that are difficult to print on. Selecting the right ink for the item being marked allows extreme resistance to abrasion, mechanical damage, and chemicals. An additional advantage of pad printing is the possibility of using paints with various special effects, such as metallic finish or glitter effect, which combined with its precision makes the whole thing look very good. Pads of various shapes are used for printing.

Pad printing - advantages

Versatile use of pad printing

  • Pad printing is an extremely versatile technique for marking objects. It is used to print on many objects, on flat, convex, concave, uneven, irregular surfaces. It can be printed on: plastic, rubber, glass, metal, leather or wood. A well-chosen pad for the object guarantees good printing accuracy.

Colour saturation in pad printing

  • Prints made with pad printing are characterised by a high level of colour and colour saturation. Well-chosen paints provide excellent coverage on the object

Low price pad printing

  • Pad printing is the cheapest marking technique available on the market. The cost of marking in this technique fluctuates around several pence per print.

Durability of pad printing

  • Pad printing is durable and resistant to mechanical damage.  Specially selected ink allows for permanent marking on glass, rubber, metal, plastic or even wooden surfaces.

Versatility of pad printing

  • Pad printing technique is perfect for marking flat, concave, convex elements, regular and irregular shapes. Pad printing is an ideal technology for branding: pens, pencils, car parts, key rings, watches, toys, anti-stress gadgets. It is also used in industry for printing on household appliances components and panels, tablets, lozenges and dragees (using special food dyes).

Pad printing - FAQ

We have fully automatic pad printing machines, thanks to which our production volumes reach up to 100,000 reprints a day. Due to the specific nature of the technology the maximum printing area is 90×90 mm on flat objects. We use pads of only reputable companies so that the logotypes are clear, legible and perfectly reproduce the original graphic design.

Pad printing is an indirect printing technology (perfect for printing gadgets) in which an image - a graphic is taken from a matrix and transferred onto the surface of the target element using a stamp called a silicone pad. In pad printing a very important element is therefore the proper preparation of the matrix. There are many threads on internet forums concerning pad printing and it is very difficult, especially for beginners. In the old technology in order to etch pad printing plates you needed raster plates with the right angle setting, uv exposing machines or exposure time meters. Nowadays this is no longer necessary and the plate is not etched but engraved. This results in a significant reduction of the time needed to make reprints. In our company we have 1-colour, 2-colour, 3-colour and 4-colour pad printing machines.

Low-volume pad printing is a print in which the pad printing machine operator has to manually position the printed object under the pad - stamp. Therefore it can be said that pad printing is manual. The situation looks different in high volume printing.  In this case feeding and receiving tables are created, in which the operator's service is limited to minimum, thus also the price for printed gadgets is low.

Pad printing - our projects

Pad printing - what equipment we work with

In pad printing, we use automatic numerically controlled pad printing machines made by the Italian company TOSH. These machines provide full flexibility of operation and, most importantly, high precision printing.  These machines are fully electric and the operation is based on stepper motors, thanks to which the printing accuracy is usually higher than +/- 0.01 mm for colour.

Made of light alloy and special steel.
Ecological. Due to the available hermetic ink system that prevents solvent evaporation.
Independent speed adjustment for each of the six strokes, possibility of memorising the different and most important phases of the printing cycle.
Set-up time is reduced to a few minutes by incorporating ergonomic principles into the design concept.
Due to the quality of the mechanical design, the guaranteed smooth operation results in extremely quiet operation, making it suitable for use in any environment.
The ability to print under the printing plate, allowing decoration in any position on large items.

The production has also been designed to guarantee a long service life without maintenance. All adjustment functions can be carried out via the numeric keypad with alphanumeric display.
